Sunset in Thailand

Here is a painting I have been working on for a friend. It is off a picture he took on his trip to Thailand this year. It is a 19X40 I think, largest I have done yet. I have to go back and darken the sand once it has dried a little. Then I'm saying done with this painting. Each time I adjusted anything in the sky I ended up doing the whole thing pretty much over because color matching was so hard. Phew! So glad it's over. Skies and clouds are really really hard!

Pongo again..

So here is a 95% done version of the painting I did for my mom for xmas. Just have to add more to the back ground then varnish. Looks pretty good. Think I should start doing more animal paintings for sure. It seems to come easier for me. So let me know what ya think.

Pongo

For Christmas I am doing a painting of our dog Pongo who did a month ago. This is not finished yet just what I have so far. So only about half way done. I have to let it dry more before I add more detail. Expecting a few tears when she sees this that's for sure LOL! It is a 16X20 size also btw.
I still have not gone back to the painting yet for Cameron's mom. I will though and then I will post it.

This is a painting I am doing for Camerons mom as a thank you for buying my wedding dress for me. :D I am not completely finished. I need to fix the grass a bit and the trees. Any pointers on what else I could fix?

Owls

Started a new painting today. It's of two owls nuzzling. Right now it kinda looks like one a big owl ha ha. I have to work on it a lot more and it will look like two separate owls :)
I'm painting on the smooth side of the canvas. I kinda like that better. It makes it more flowy.

SunFlower Painting

This is a painting I'm finishing up that friend Purva asked me to do for her. She took a trip to eastern washington this summer and saw all these beautiful sunflowers. The image is from a picture she took on her trip.
I'm not very good with blurry background images so I didn't do that part very well :P I probably should learn how to do that better though...dad. Ahem. Teach me. lol!! So my text painting will be of an arbutus tree for Cameron's moms bathroom. She redecorated it and stuff. Until then.

Wedding Progress

Well I think I've found my dress. I will not post it just in case Cameron sees it though. But finding my dress has sparked an interest collecting other things for the wedding. So far I've got our cake topper. It's so cute. I guess we are going with a bird theme. Didn't plan for it, just kinda happened.
I'm waiting for my Dad to do a pretty sketch of love birds for our invitations then I can get started on those. Right now with painting I'm trying to duplicate a Sunflower into a painting for a friend of mine. It's hard though because the canvas is 18x18 and the picture is a 4x6. So how do I add on two inches of something?!

Camping at the Hoh Rainforest and Visiting Ruby Beach WA

This summer Cam and I went with two of our good friends on a super fun road trip. We first stopped at Hoh Rainforest in the Olympic National park. So beautiful! Then we took a day trip over to Ruby Beach. The most gorgeous beach I've ever seen in WA state. So sandy with huge rocks. We took a little hike through the Hall of Mosses, which is were the mossy tree picture is from. There were giant trees in the Rainforest. I really enjoyed getting to see that area, as I've read so much about it in travel magazines. Now we have to find an area to visit for next summer also. I love exploring!

Wedding Paintings

After 3 hrs of uploading photos, editing, then uploading to the internet I'm totally done! That is why it takes me so long to upload pics. It takes just way too long. Well here are two paintings I did this summer for two friends of ours who got married. One is of a beach on Vancouver Island and the other is from a place in Italy. I didn't have a whole lot of time on either so I would've liked them to turn out a little better. But as long as the couples are happy I'm happy :)

Dad's Visit

My dad came to visit us this August. He hasn't been down in like 10 years so we had a lot to show him! Both Justin's place in Lynden and mine up in Canada. We had a few chances to paint he and I. This is a plein air painting we did when we went camping at Mt Baker. It was really fun. My dad's is on the left and mine on the right. Then we traded and I got his, he got mine. His is hanging in my kitchen currently. I get to look at it every time I walk in or walk by to use the bathroom. It's so much more fun having someone to paint with. I have never finished two paintings in one week before. Only happens when he's around. :) Just think of the things I could accomplish if we lived closer! LOL
I'll put a few more the pictures up soon from our visit. It was a great time and I really enjoyed it. It feels good to know that he has met Cameron's Dad and seen our place and where we live. Currently my friend Laura, Cameron's cousin, is over visiting from Indiana. So it's been kinda busy and hectic. Enjoyable though. Always great to have family and friends around.
PS Didn't win at the Art Competition judge this monday, I am proud to have made it to the top 30 though.

Arts for the parks competition!

I was accepted into the arts for the parks competition this year! 59 entried and 30 chosen!!I made this 16X20 painting "Nature Drunk and High". It is a picture I took while on a road trip with my Dad in Denali Nat park. I'll never forget that trip. It was such an experience being out in the middle of nowhere. I loved it!
